TRIGGERFINGER: ‘Come Clean’ – the beginning of a new era

Date:

2025 was yet another milestone for Antwerp based Triggerfinger, whose career now spans 25 years.

Last autumn, only a few of days after the band released their first new track since 2017, marked the tragic passing of the band’s iconic bassplayer Monsieur Paul.
Paul had left the band in 2023 due to medical issues, but he remained a closed friend and brother of Mario and Ruben.
‘Stars’ was well received both by old & new fans alike and opened new doors. The band reintroduced themselves to the international live scene with a 25 date tour, which was a resounding success, with most shows selling out.

While ‘Stars’ revealed an obvious link with Triggerfinger’s earlier repertoire, ‘Come Clean’ might catch friend and foe off-guard with a new sound, announcing a wind of change in the band’s musical DNA.

About the song, Ruben Block explains:
“Confessing one’s feelings might be a risky undertaking depending on what’s at stake or who we’re confessing to.
‘Come Clean’ is about the urge to come clean versus the fear of rejection. Especially at a time where a majority of people seem free of any restraint in voicing their opinions on everyday life without a single trace of nuance. »
The single was recorded in the same sessions that gave us “Stars” and that eventually resulted in enough material for a forthcoming album, due for release in 2026.

Ruben & Mario headed out to Los Angeles once again, where Mitchell Froom gave them a warm welcome. Froom is not exactly unknown to the Triggerfingers. On the new recording he is explicitly present, as he incited both Mario & Ruben to look beyond their comfort zone, find alternative ways of composing and head out into the unknown without having a clear view on what the eventual result could become.
